Aurelio Costarella on his new collection, ‘Solaire’

‘Delicately pretty and decadently noir’ is how Aurelio Costarella describes his vibrant new summer collection, Solaire.

Elegant Swarovski face jewels and sleek neon hair extensions is how Costarella chose to adorn his models to kick off the first day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney. Ombré feathers floated down the runway alongside bold colours and decadent textures, taking you on a journey bursting with colour and life. From the embellished corset dresses with flowing chiffon skirts to block colour playsuits, this swoon-worthy collection has you covered for the upcoming summer party season.

Here’s what the man himself, Aurelio Costarella, had to say about the collection:

“This season is a contemporary interpretation of classic 1920s/30s Parisienne silhouettes. Inspired by the work of fashion photographer and artist Man Ray, it celebrates the eclectic style of his muses including Josephine Baker, Kiki de Montparnasse, Tamara De Lempika and Nancy Cunard.

“The colour palette is the most intense, textured and vibrant that we have ever produced! Ranging from crisp white to shades of flame, we’ve touched on orchid, violet, citrus, mint, fuchsia, red, cobalt, turquoise, antique, pewter, gunmetal and black. Fabrications include silk chiffon, leather, eyelet lace, print, plisse, intricate beading and embroidery in metal, ostrich feather and crystal.”

It’s official: our new season party outfits are sorted. Bring on those balmy summer nights!
