Krystel Davis, the mastermind creative director behind new Myer label Ixiah, has set out to create a truly unique offering in the women’s fashion world and is bringing a much needed breath of fresh air to the ‘neo-tribal’ trend.
Based in Sydney, Krystel founded Ixiah in 2011 and has since watched her label grow rapidly thanks to her unique design handwriting that intertwines neo-tribal influences with classic tailoring and soft but dramatic shapes. Celebrity support from Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Face of Myer Jennifer Hawkins and Australian singer Jess Mauboy (just to name a few!) has seen Ixiah move swiftly into the fashion spotlight, showing the spring summer collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia earlier this year.
The new collection was inspired by the subject of light and freedom of spirit, an Ixiah staple concept. Speaking about the new collection, Krystel says “Fashion is about freedom. I think everyone just loves to escape reality and distract their minds”.
Intricate holographic beadwork creating subtle light fractures adorns soft fabrics finished with fringed edges on dresses while structured tailoring balances the use of embellishment. The dreamy collection also references the Northern Lights through soft colourful experimentation in prints which are paired back with braids of metallic copper textures as finishing touches.
Krystel is passionate about ensuring her label offers more than just fashion trends, and is more concerned with Ixiah’s ability to enhance an individual’s self expression.
“Fashion is a personal expression. It is an individually distinctive way of putting yourself together. To me it’s a unique blend of spirit and substance. It is a way of making a statement about ourselves through the clothing we choose to wear and the way in which we wear it”
This season’s Ixiah collection will draw your attention for all the right reasons and are bound to be your new high rotation wardrobe pieces during the party season!
