Known for her stunning cut out pieces for women, Yeojin Bae has turned to the slick understated sexieness of 80’s icon Blondie for inspiration for her Autumn Winter. Complementing this dress driven collection are strong blazers and perfectly tailored trans-seasonal tuxedo pieces. With a focus on respecting the female form and celebrating individuality, Yeojin Bae’s ‘Heart of Glass’ has all your new season wardrobe staples sorted.
Myer: Where did you take your inspiration from this season?
Yeojin Bae: I like the combination of sophisticated tailoring with the undone sex appeal of 80s rock goddess, Blondie. Modern femininity with an edgy, understated elegance.
M: Tell us about your featured pieces for the season…
YB: The dresses are sleek and streamlined in bonded satin and vibrant shades of hot pink and royal blue. The crepe tuxedo jacket goes perfectly from day to cocktail and the Lauren dress is deceptively simple but in a luxurious fabrication and features a beautiful cut detail.
M: What themes and techniques have you featured this season?
YB: Bold use of colour, luxurious fabrics and clean, elegant lines.
M: If you had to choose just one, which item would you select as your must-have piece from your collection?
YB: I love designing dresses but for AW my pick is the crepe tuxedo jacket with satin lapel. The fabric is butter soft yet still structured and can be worn over almost anything.
M: Who is your muse and why do you love their style?
YB: For this season I loved the confidence and sex appeal of Blondie.
M: Which holiday destination are you loving at the moment?
YB: New York is an old favourite and I am in the midst of planning a birthday trip there!
M: What does winter mean to you?
YB: I like the hibernation of winter, open fires, reading, cooking and recharging for spring.
