Anthony Cuthbertson is the man entrusted with the legacy of sass & bide founders, Heidi Middleton and Sarah Jane Clarke, and has just debuted his first collection, Mojo-Kiko, at London Fashion Week as the label’s new Design Director.
The collection features a new exploration into Japanese outerwear, kimono prints and robotic outlines with a playful twist that keeps the pieces fun and completely wearable. A fusion of tribal textures crafted against strong, structured silhouettes sees the collection adopt a new kind of refined and modern aesthetic that still very much embraces all that is quintessentially sass & bide.
In a colour palette of antique gold, pop-yellow and foiled metallic silver, we also see fleeting moments of cobalt in between doses of black leather and shimmering fabrics which sit back with heavily embellished leggings, coats and dresses.
While this collection expresses an exciting new sartorial direction, it also looks to the past and calls on many of the label’s iconic pieces as inspiration in somewhat of an homage to the label’s heritage and journey of the last fifteen years. Key silhouettes that the brand has built its name on were revisited while trademark artisan embellishment was also maintained. Mojo-Kiko is an evolution born from the desire to resist mediocrity and embrace change whilst honour the strength and spirit of the past.
The uber cool sass & bide girl is back and is bringing the brand’s famous ‘Rats’ leggings with her! Available in selected stores from July 2015, we cant wait to get into some of these amazing pieces from Mojo-Kiko (hellooo leather pants and embellished jackets!).
