Local label Skin & Threads has become one of our faves for effortless wardrobe essentials, and this week the Skin & Threads team released their newest capsule collection which was created in collaboration with media personality and fashion blogger Kate Waterhouse. Featuring a range of pieces from structured jackets to slinky camisoles, the collection heroes strong, masculine tailoring softened by silk and sheer textures. We caught up with Kate to find out more about her exciting new capsule collection
Myer: Tell us a bit about your collection for Skin & Threads…
Kate Waterhouse: It’s basically my basic wardrobe essentials collection – everything from the perfect pair of jeans, beautiful knits, a tailored blazer and ultimate white T-shirt.
M: Tell us about the design process?
KW: Originally I met with the Skin & Threads team and brought along mood boards I had created and all my ideas, then we went through sketches and chose material together. The whole process has taken just under a year, travelling back and forth from the Melbourne HQ, so it’s really exciting to finally see my designs come to life!
M: What is about the Skin & Threads brand that you love?
KW: I love the quality of Skin & Threads. I’ve shopped at Skin & Threads for years and years – their garments are always so well designed and they use such great quality fabrics that they last the test of time.
M: If you had to pick a favourite piece, what would it be?
KW: I love the chiffon shirt in pewter. It’s a piece that can be dressed down by wearing a cami underneath and styled with jeans and brogues for the daytime or for a evening look you can add your favourite beautiful lingerie, leather pants and a statement heel.
M: Describe your style philosophy in three words?
KW: Comfortable yet polished.
For Skin & Threads Founder and Director Penelope Cohen, Kate was a natural choice for the brand’s second collaboration.
“Being a young mum who naturally gravitates towards elevated lifestyle clothing, Kate is the perfect fit for the Skin and Threads brand ambassador. Kate’s approach to dressing and style centers on ‘hero staples’ such as tailored black blazers and draping sweaters, perfectly aligning with our philosophy.” Penny said.
The Kate Waterhouse x Skin & Threads capsule collection will be available this week at Myer Melbourne City and Sydney City.
