Meet the 2015 Myer Fashions on the Field Finalists

Myer Ambassador Kris Smith and Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador Georgia Connolly joined host Nikki Phillips to officially launch the 2015 Myer Fashions on the Field Competition at Flemington Racecourse. After a delightful morning of fashion, champagne and canapes, we caught up with each of the finalists to find out more about the women behind the glamorous outfits…

Myer Fashions on the Field Queensland State Finalist Lauren Walker

My outfit is inspired by the neoprene trend that has been very prominent on the runways in Paris.
My number one tip for raceday dressing is to stand out from the crowd by wearing beautiful custom made millinery.
This year, trackside trends to try are midi length hems and structured headpieces.
When I’m not at Myer Fashions on the Field I’m on fashion buying trips to Europe for my business Joli Boutique in Ascot, Brisbane
My favourite wardrobe staple item is a fabulous designer handbag. My latest is a limited edition Louis Vuitton I purchased in Capri, Italy.
My style icon is Amal Clooney, she always looks feminine with a high fashion edge.

Myer Fashions on the Field South Australia State Finalist Gabriella De Ieso

My outfit is inspired by Parisian chic. Grace Kelly mixed with Mad Men, romance and femininity.
My number one tip for raceday dressing is to be confident and wear what makes you feel happy, amazing and beautiful. Have fun with your style!
This year, trackside trends to try are the boater hat with an elegant lace dress. This looks effortlessly cool.
When I’m not at Myer Fashions on the Field I’m working in construction as a Compliance and Estimating Coordinator for Kennett Builders.
My favourite wardrobe staple item is a white t-shirt. It is timeless and goes with just about anything! I can dress it up with a pair of heels, black leather skirt and a necklace or down with jeans or trackies.
My style icon is Olivia Palermo.

My outfit is inspired by Julia Roberts from the polo scene in Pretty Women.
My number one tip for raceday dressing is to wear what you feel comfortable in, including comfortable footwear.
This year, trackside trends to try are a full A line midi skirt, as this style never dates.
When I’m not at Myer Fashions on the Field I’m either at work at Launceston College or renovating our home with my husband.
My favourite wardrobe staple item is an A line skirt.
My style icon is Audrey Hepburn because of her timeless elegance.

Myer Fashions on the Field Western Australia state finalist Mildred Ellwood

My outfit is inspired by strong and sophisticated tribal prints with a touch of spring.
My number one tip for raceday dressing is to be creative and classy for the event.
This year trackside trends to try are full midi skirts, bold embellishment and a twist of the 70’s.
When I’m not at Fashions on the Field I’m a mother taking care of my three beautiful children and trying to balance a lifestyle of work, fashion and family.
My favourite wardrobe staple item is a trusty pair of steel cap boots and a couple of black heels hidden in the car!
My style icon is Iris Apfel, as she inspires me with her artistic way of presenting outfits.

 

Myer Fashions on the Field New South Wales State Finalist Whitney Berry

My outfit is inspired by current trends and the popularity of the new brand Self Portrait. As well as the use of two different colours from dress to headpiece, which I felt complemented each other.
My number one tip for raceday dressing is to keep it classy and elegant and to make sure that your dress comes to the knee.
This year trackside trends to try are longer hemlines, thick lace, dainty headpieces and combining different colours to make your outfit interesting and a contrast from dress to headpiece whilst still remaining suitable for the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
When I’m not at Myer Fashions on the Field I’m running my dance studio and teaching little ballerinas how to dance. I love sharing my passion and love for dance with others.
My favourite wardrobe staple item is my black leather jacket.  You can dress it up or down, they never go out of fashion, they’re super comfortable and normally match well with whatever I’m wearing.
My style icon is Gigi Hadid. I think that she is absolutely stunning and always looks so effortlessly styled and put together.
